Sofa & Mattress Deep Clean — Geylang Bahru HDB
Five items, one visit, one and a half hours. L-shape sofa, two mattresses and a baby cot mattress — all done on-site.
The situation
A young family in a Geylang Bahru HDB flat. Everything in the home was kept clean — regularly vacuumed, tidy, well looked after. But like most homes, none of it had ever been deep cleaned.
They booked five items in one go: the L-shape sofa in the living room, the master bedroom king mattress, a queen, and the baby's cot mattress.
Two of the mattresses told the story we see in almost every home. The older mattress was visibly dirty once we looked closely. The newer one looked spotless — the kind of mattress where you'd swear it didn't need doing. Both came out filthy in the water.
What we did
We started by moving the cot mattress out to work on it properly — the baby's had some staining that needed pre-treatment before extraction.
Every item got hot water extraction: the L-shape sofa across all sections, both bedroom mattresses, and the cot mattress. Stained areas were pre-treated first so the extraction could pull the loosened dirt out rather than just passing over it.
The whole job — five items across three rooms — took an hour and a half.
The result
The older mattress came up dramatically better, which the family expected. The surprise was the newer one. It looked clean before we started, but the extraction water from it was just as dirty as the rest — sweat, skin cells and dust that had soaked in below the surface where you can't see it.
That's the thing about mattresses: looking clean and being clean are two different things. You spend a third of your life on it, and everything that comes off you goes into it.
As with every job, the family got a video of the dirty water we pulled out of each item — their mattresses, their water, not a stock photo.
